Contatori distribuiti

Molte app in tempo reale dispongono di documenti che fungono da contatori. Ad esempio, potresti contare i "Mi piace" su un post o i "Preferiti" di un articolo specifico.

In Cloud Firestore non puoi aggiornare un singolo documento a una velocità illimitata. Se disponi di un contatore basato su un singolo documento e con incrementi sufficientemente frequenti, alla fine vedrai un conflitto sugli aggiornamenti del documento. Soluzione: contatori distribuiti

Per supportare aggiornamenti dei contatori più frequenti, creare un contatore distribuito. Ogni contatore è un documento con una sottoraccolta di "frammenti" e il valore del contatore è la somma del valore dei frammenti.

Il throughput di scrittura aumenta linearmente con il numero di shard, quindi un contatore distribuito con 10 shard può gestire un numero di scritture 10 volte superiore rispetto a un contatore tradizionale.

Limitazioni

La soluzione mostrata sopra è un modo scalabile per creare contatori condivisi in Cloud Firestore, ma è necessario tenere presente le seguenti limitazioni:

  • Conteggio shard : il numero di shard controlla le prestazioni del contatore distribuito. Con un numero insufficiente di shard, potrebbe essere necessario riprovare per alcune transazioni prima di riuscire, il che rallenterà le scritture. Con troppi shard, le letture diventano più lente e costose. È possibile compensare le spese di lettura mantenendo il totale del contatore in un documento di roll-up separato che viene aggiornato a una cadenza più lenta e chiedendo ai clienti di leggere da quel documento per ottenere il totale. Il compromesso è che i client dovranno attendere l'aggiornamento del documento di roll-up, invece di calcolare il totale leggendo tutti gli shard immediatamente dopo qualsiasi aggiornamento.
  • Costo : il costo della lettura di un valore del contatore aumenta linearmente con il numero di shard, poiché è necessario caricare l'intera sottoraccolta di shard.
