Cuando elimina un documento, Cloud Firestore no elimina automáticamente los documentos dentro de sus subcolecciones. Todavía puede acceder a los documentos de la subcolección por referencia. Por ejemplo, puede acceder al documento en la ruta /mycoll/mydoc/mysubcoll/mysubdoc incluso si elimina el documento principal en /mycoll/mydoc .

Los documentos ancestros inexistentes aparecen en la consola , pero no aparecen en los resultados de la consulta ni en las instantáneas.

Si desea eliminar un documento y todos los documentos dentro de sus subcolecciones, debe hacerlo manualmente. Para obtener más información, consulte Eliminar colecciones .

Eliminar campos

Para eliminar campos específicos de un documento, use el método FieldValue.delete() cuando actualice un documento:

Eliminar colecciones

Para eliminar una colección o subcolección completa en Cloud Firestore, recupere todos los documentos dentro de la colección o subcolección y elimínelos. Si tiene colecciones más grandes, es posible que desee eliminar los documentos en lotes más pequeños para evitar errores de falta de memoria. Repita el proceso hasta que haya eliminado toda la colección o subcolección.

La eliminación de una colección requiere la coordinación de un número ilimitado de solicitudes de eliminación individuales. Si necesita eliminar colecciones completas, hágalo solo desde un entorno de servidor confiable. Si bien es posible eliminar una colección de un cliente móvil/web, hacerlo tiene implicaciones negativas de seguridad y rendimiento.

Los fragmentos a continuación están algo simplificados y no se ocupan del manejo de errores, la seguridad, la eliminación de subcolecciones o la maximización del rendimiento.
